Obviously, many of us can relate. But is this belief reality? Or is this paradigm just a dream we subconsciously keep creating for ourselves because of our ideas of what "love" means? When we are young, we are taught that certain things make us unlovable, and that the only way to know for sure if we are lovable/acceptable is if someone wants to give us their “love”/validation. So we go through this life thinking that we are not good enough; and we suffer, and we hate ourselves, and we long for that day when our “other half” will walk into our lives and reassure us that we are lovable. So, when that day comes when a person actually offers us their “love”, we tend to ignore obvious signs that this person may not be the best fit for us because we are just so relieved that someone thinks we are worthy. And then we wonder why the relationship doesn't work out. It is because this is not love. This is desperation. This is fear and insecurity. Love is not about selfishly hoping another person will be able to make you happy, it is about FUN, JOY, and ADVENTURE.
