Join us as Carl Davis, an accomplished player of the Gongs from St. Louis, leads us into a unique sound experience!

In 1991, Carl was inspired to go to China to study with the Buddhist Priests at the Shaolin Temple. While there, meditating on one of the three mountains, a small "ancient" looking monk appeared and told him of an instrument that heals by vibration and sound. He further stated that over 6,000 years ago the wise ones of the earth had mastered the art of healing with vibrations created by instruments similar to the gongs that can still be found in temples throughout the orient. However, the art of combining the harmonic energies of the instrument to heal had been lost. The ancient one offered to teach him this art if he would agree to create the instrument. He would be shown how to create the healing sound patterns that the instrument was capable of generating, and asked to serve as a teacher of this lost art in the western world..

I've been listening to his CD all week and it's mesmerizing. The shimmering and softly rhythmic sounds are penetrating with healing effects at a deep level. We will be chanting with the planet at the lunch hour on this day with group members, so we'll be primed for the evening to sit back and let these magical sounds wash over us!
