Tantra has been said to be one of the most important Indian traditions, representing the practical aspect of the Vedic tradition. The word "tantra" is derived from the combination of two words "tattva" and "mantra". "Tattva" means the science of cosmic principles, while "mantra" refers to the science of mystic sound and vibrations. Tantra therefore is the application of cosmic sciences with a view to attain spiritual ascendancy. In another sense, tantra also means the scripture "by which the light of knowledge is spread."

Tantra itself means "to weave, to expand, and to spread", and according to tantrik masters, the fabric of life can provide true and ever-lasting fulfillment only when all the threads are woven according to the pattern designated by nature. When we are born, life naturally forms itself around that pattern. But as we grow, our ignorance, desire, attachment, fear, and false images of others and ourselves tangle and tear the threads, disfiguring the fabric. Tantra "sadhana" or practice reweaves the fabric, and restores the original pattern. The profound science and practices pertaining to hatha yoga, pranayama, mudras, rituals, kundalini yoga, nada yoga, mantra, mandala, visualization of dieties, alchemy, ayurveda, astrology, and hundreds of esoteric practices for generating worldly and spiritual prosperity blend perfectly in the tantrik disciplines.
Tantricism exists in Hinduism and Buddhism in Japan, Tibet and South Asia among many other traditions, religions and countries.

We'll be exploring sound through the filter of the Tantric principle of manifesting spirit through the physical with ancient and traditional Tantric chants as well as toning the Shiva and Shakti (the male and the female energy) that are both embodied within each of us.

Join us on June 9th, June 20th or June 28th; address and time listed on site

This by far was the BEST meetup to me next to the Taste of Greece last month! I was in a very bad mood from too much physical work (moving furniture at work) and too much complaining from my clients and it took its' toll on me! I was planning to actually go home and sulk when a inner voice said to me " this would not hurt you". When the chanting began, I immediately start to be calmer and less volitle. By the time we were doing the Shakti and Shiva, I was very calm and most aggreeable to myself and to others. The "singing bowl" just mellowed me out and I was so ready to learn the Tantric chants for more relaxation. I was also glad to see that there are young people there sharing their light with all of us. The discussions afterwards were thought producing amd those still there got to share what they got and did not get from the experience. Blessed Be!
    •  'Tantra Sound Exploration' was a very interesting experience, for me.. I tend to resonate more with Universal chanting sounds--sounds I am more familiar with. However, as usual, Sheila did a great job of presenting the new material in a clear, and simple to follow fashion. Thank you, Sheila, for always trying to enrich our paths with something new. Erien
